Bow Common Lane Mural 2011– Ronnie Scott
National building contractor Galliford Try, currently working with Swan Housing Group is delivering a new affordable housing development at nearby Bow Common Lane. In agreement with the local authority London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the new building will be named “Ronnie Scott House” after the infamous English jazz tenor saxophonist who was born in Aldgate. Inline with this naming the theme of the mural will aptly be based on jazz.
They approached us at St Paul’s Way Trust School to involve students in adding some creativity to the new development, and as such the decision was made to create a mural to be mounted onto the wall of the new development in August.
The Ronnie Scott mural, and under the guidance of teacher Ms Jones and artist Frank Creber have been working with yr9 students to design and paint a fantastic mural at school. Students have really worked amazing hard to keep to the deadline and have engaged in the whole process of designing, scaling up and refining ideas as the work progresses.
Well done yr9, the mural is extremely eye-catching and captures the movement of Jazz!
