Chila Burman Community Project
Poplar HARCA has developed a brand new community centre on St Paul's Way on the site of the old Cafe ReConnect. This centre complements the transformation going on generally in the area i.e. the new St Paul's Way Trust school, new housing, improved road layout etc.
As part of this work, renowned artist Chila Burman was commissioned by Poplar HARCA to work with local residents to create artworks, which will decorate the new centre. Chila worked with a group of girls from St Paul’s Way Trust School to create a piece that will represent the pupils of the school for years to come.
The theme was around self-portraits, using traditional and digital techniques to manipulate and recreate images of themselves.

Chila Burman St Paul's Way Trust School Workshops
In 2013, Artist Chila Burman returned to work with two groups of Year 9 students to produce works of art that will later be exhibited within the school. The two groups each focused on different themes – one on personal identity, the other on the school's graduate aims of scholarship, communication, participation, networking, vision and investigation.
