St. Paul's Way Trust School's has enjoyed specialist Visual Arts College status since September 1998. Arts College Status has brought about great changes for the Art & Design Department. The extra funding enabled us to increase our Art and Design offer at ks3 and ks4 to include BTEC Art, GCSE Fine Art, Photography and Textiles. We have also recently become a 11-18 school, this has enabled us to introduce the A/S level Art and Design and Photography courses to our incredibly hard working and talented students. Our GCSE results have consistently been over 90% A*-C grades.
Students have the opportunity to work in a range of disciplines, using painting medias, mixed media textiles, printmaking, 3-D techniques and photographic and digital media art forms. Artist in residence projects and links with galleries as well as extra-curricular opportunities allow students to develop and refine their interests.
We have strong links with artists and art galleries across London as well as our local community arts organisations and have collaborated on many successful cross arts and cross curricular projects over the years.
OfSTED asked that St Paul's Way be featured in a 'good practice' report: Drawing together: Art, Craft and Design – at the report ceremony we were awarded a certificate for our contribution to the report-‘Outstanding Art, Craft and Design’ –July 09
An impressive archive of pupils' work with organisations can be seen in the following pages and work can also be be viewed on our Gallery page - Flickr site.
